Thanks for this Terrance - interestingly we had quite around long discussion around this at the conference spinning off discussions of wearable and mobile technologies. As you say scanning goods to find out where came from and how made is crucial to greater transparency.
Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Michael's Belay Glasses: http://belayglass.blogspot.com/ Don't crane your neck while belaying. Wear these glasses and look forward to gaze upward saving on neck strain. They allow the belayer to more fully concentrate their attention to the task at hand, especially on long, protracted sessions. They accomplish this at roughly a 1/4 of the cost of the other product on the market, putting this easier into the average climbers budget.

HI Bryan
thanks your comments. Perhaps no-one alive today knows the exact details but ITISA simply got lost within a large and rapidly growing group. However its possible that no amount of effort could have enabled ITISA survive because the concept of camping was undergoing a revolution. so we simply summarised;
'J&W were acquired by Blacks in the early 1960s, followed by Camtors and the new company became Camtors, Jackson and Warr, but the ‘Itisa’ brand faded away thereafter.'

I too was an ITISA user and we sold ITISA in our retail store C.H.Parsons, Rawtenstall. I knew John Jackson personally and went to see him not long after the take over of ITISA.
