Bradley Wiggins Sports personality of the year, Dave Brailsford Coach of the Year

We are delighted to hear that  Bradley Wiggins has been named BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2012 and Dave Brailsford Coach of the Year, two very well deserved awards.

This reflects Wiggins’ historic win of the Tour de France  and his gold in the Olympics. Dave Brailsford’ is  Performance Director British Cycling and was the coach behind the numerous British cycling achievements of recent years, including  London 2012 Olympics.

See below  for Mike Parsons’ interview with Dave Brailsford to understand more about the forces shaping Team Sky and Brailsford’s perceptions on innovation and performance.

David Brailsford, British Cycling Performance Director and Team Sky General Manager, participated in an exclusive innovation related interview for innov_ex 12, covering why the UK has been so successful in cycling since the late 90’s?

This revolution is best told in the table of Olympic and World Championship medals. The interview with David will cover the dramatic rise in UK medals since 2000 (in 2008 of all 13 cycling medals available, Britain won more than half of them).

It was a remarkable increase. At London 2012 GB cyclists won 12 medals -8 of them gold.

How was this achieved and what can we learn from the innovations and science behind the achievements?
